Dodge Charger Kingston: Electric Daytona or Gas SIXPACK?

A blue 2026 Dodge Charger Daytona parked in the middle of a quiet downtown Kingston street of cut-limestone buildings on an autumn afternoon, its full-width lighting bar across the nose, with the headline "Plug in, or fill up?" in white capitals at the lower left

There are two very different cars wearing the Charger badge, and the difference between them is not a trim level. One is fully electric and one runs on gasoline.

The electric one is the Charger Daytona. The gas one is the Charger with Dodge's 3.0L Twin-Turbo SIXPACK engine, sold as the R/T and the Scat Pack.

So here is the short answer first: if you can plug in where you park overnight, the Daytona is a real option, and if you cannot, buy the gas SIXPACK and stop thinking about it.

This Dodge Charger Kingston guide takes the two cars apart version by version, and says plainly which one suits which driver.

Jim Thompson Chrysler is a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram store on Gardiners Road, so the Charger is one of ours to explain, to appraise your trade against, to finance, O.A.C., and to service.

Key Takeaways

  • Two cars, one badge. The Charger Daytona is battery-electric, and the 2026 Charger R/T and Charger Scat Pack use Dodge's gas 3.0L Twin-Turbo SIXPACK, with standard all-wheel drive listed on both sides of the lineup on Dodge Canada's Charger performance page, read September 28, 2026.

  • The Government of Canada's Fuel Consumption Ratings list the 2025 Charger Daytona R/T at 496 kilometers of range on the 20-inch Nexen tire package and 441 kilometers on the 18-inch Nexen package. Same car, different tires, 55 kilometers apart.

  • Those same federal ratings list a estimated 10-hour full recharge at 240 V for every 2025 Charger Daytona configuration, and the actual time depends on the equipment, the starting charge and the conditions, which is an overnight in your own driveway and a real problem on a downtown street.

  • The Government of Canada's 2026 ratings list the 2026 Charger R/T at 11.8 L/100 km combined, measured on regular fuel, and the 2026 Charger Scat Pack at 12.5 L/100 km combined, measured on premium. The R/T is designed for regular unleaded and the SIXPACK Scat Pack requires premium for optimal performance, so ask us to confirm what a specific car is built to run on.

  • You can see what your current vehicle is worth before you come in, and financing is available through our online credit application, O.A.C.

Which Dodge Charger in Kingston Is the Right One for You?

One question decides it: can you charge where you park, every night, without planning your evening around it?

If yes, the electric Charger Daytona suits the way most Kingston weeks actually look. If no, the gas SIXPACK Charger is the honest buy, and no amount of enthusiasm for the electric one changes that.

Two smaller questions settle the rest.

Do you need rear doors? Body style is not fixed by the trim name on the 2026 Charger, and Dodge Canada lists the Charger Daytona separately as a 2025. Confirm the body style on the exact vehicle rather than assuming it from the badge.

So if rear doors are the requirement, start with the 2026 Charger R/T and confirm the body style on the exact vehicle in front of you, because a badge is not a body style. If what you actually want is a big four-door sedan with a trunk, our used Chrysler 300 buyer's guide covers that car properly.

Do you want the higher-output version or the one that goes further? In the electric lineup those two wishes pull against each other, and the version tables below show exactly how far apart they sit.

Daytona or SIXPACK: What Actually Separates the Two Chargers?

The split is the powertrain, and everything else follows from it.

One thing to watch while you read: R/T and Scat Pack are used as version names on both sides of the lineup, so a Daytona R/T is electric and a Charger R/T is gas. The word Daytona is the reliable tell.

The electric Charger Daytona

The Charger Daytona is battery-electric, with dual electric motors, standard all-wheel drive, a 100.5 kWh battery and a 400-volt system, all listed on Dodge Canada's Charger performance page, read September 28, 2026.

Dodge Canada identifies 670 horsepower as the Daytona Scat Pack output with PowerShot, and the Daytona R/T output is different, so treat any single headline figure as belonging to one trim and confirm it on the exact vehicle. The figure this guide can pin version by version is the motor rating in the federal ratings: 370 kW for the 2025 Daytona R/T and 500 kW for the 2025 Daytona Scat Pack Track Pack.

Read today, Dodge Canada's site shows the Charger Daytona as a 2025 model, which is why every electric figure here carries that year.

The gas SIXPACK Charger

The gas Charger uses Dodge's 3.0L Twin-Turbo SIXPACK, a six-cylinder engine offered in two outputs, with an 8-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive.

Dodge Canada's performance page lists the standard-output SIXPACK in the 2026 Charger R/T at 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque, and the high-output SIXPACK in the 2026 Charger Scat Pack at 550 horsepower and 531 lb-ft, read September 28, 2026.

The same page describes the gas Charger as an all-wheel-drive car with a standard full rear-wheel-drive mode. So the traction is standard equipment and rear-drive is a setting, not a different car you have to order.

There is no V8 in either of these two cars, and that is worth knowing before you spend a Saturday looking.

And the part no figure covers: what either one is like to own

Nobody buys a Charger on arithmetic, and the version tables below will not tell you why anyone buys one at all. So here it is first.

A Charger is long, wide and low in a market that has gone tall and square, and it does not look like anything else in the pick-up line on Bayridge Drive.

You notice that on an ordinary Tuesday rather than only on the good days, catching the shape of it in the garage door glass, or seeing it sit a hand lower than the SUV parked next to it at the Cataraqui Centre.

The electric Daytona adds silence to all of that. Sliding away from a light on Princess Street with no engine noise at all, in a car shaped like this one, is a genuinely strange and enjoyable combination.

The gas SIXPACK keeps the engine and the stop at the pump, and plenty of Kingston buyers want exactly that and nothing else.

Either way, people ask you about it. A Charger was never meant to be an appliance, and that is worth saying plainly on a page otherwise full of kilowatt-hours and tire packages.

Every Charger Version, Side by Side

Here is every Charger configuration in the Canadian data, with the number that actually decides it and what it costs to run.

The electric Daytona configurations

Five of them sit in the federal ratings, and the tire package moves the range further than the version name does.

Version

The number that decides it

What it costs to run

2025 Charger Daytona R/T (AWD 2Dr, 20-inch Nexen)

Electric, dual motors, 370 kW motor rating, standard AWD

496 km range

21.5 kWh/100 km combined; estimated 10-hour full recharge at 240 V

2025 Charger Daytona R/T (AWD 2Dr, 18-inch Nexen)

Electric, dual motors, 370 kW motor rating, standard AWD

441 km range

24.1 kWh/100 km combined; estimated 10-hour full recharge at 240 V

2025 Charger Daytona R/T (AWD 2Dr, 20-inch Goodyear)

Electric, dual motors, 370 kW motor rating, standard AWD

431 km range

24.6 kWh/100 km combined; estimated 10-hour full recharge at 240 V

2025 Charger Daytona Scat Pack Track Pack (AWD 2Dr, all-season tires)

Electric, dual motors, 500 kW motor rating, standard AWD

388 km range

27.0 kWh/100 km combined; estimated 10-hour full recharge at 240 V

2025 Charger Daytona Scat Pack Track Pack (AWD 2Dr, three-season tires)

Electric, dual motors, 500 kW motor rating, standard AWD

348 km range

29.9 kWh/100 km combined; estimated 10-hour full recharge at 240 V

Three tire packages on one car, and 65 kilometers between the best and the worst of them. That is why the tires on the specific car matter as much as the version on the badge.

The gas SIXPACK configurations

Two of them, one engine in two outputs, and nothing to plug in on either.

How Far Will a Dodge Charger Daytona Go in a Kingston Winter?

A rated range is a test number, not a February number

Every range figure above was measured under the Government of Canada's standard test conditions, which are not a January morning on Highway 401.

Cold takes range out of every electric car. The battery is cold, the cabin heater is running, the defrost is running, and winter tires are working harder than the tires used in a test.

So plan around a winter number rather than the label number, and read the 496 kilometers on the 2025 Daytona R/T as the best case rather than the everyday one.

For a Kingston week that still leaves plenty of room. A west-end run downtown, a school loop, a shift at the hospital or the base, groceries at the Cataraqui Centre: a week like that does not go near the rated figure even in February.

The trip that needs thought is the long cold one. Ottawa and back in a day, or Toronto and back, on a morning that starts well below freezing, is the drive where the rated number and the real one part company.

When it does suit you, it suits you completely. A dual-motor Daytona pulling away from the lights at Gardiners Road and Taylor-Kidd in the wet, all four wheels hooked up and nothing to wait for, is a very easy car to like.

Where the car actually charges

The federal ratings list a estimated 10-hour full recharge at 240 V for every 2025 Charger Daytona configuration, and that is an overnight.

An overnight is fine in your own driveway or garage. It is the whole problem if you park on the street downtown, in a condo lot with no outlet, or at a workplace with nowhere to plug in.

Be honest with yourself about that before you fall for the car, because an electric Charger you can only charge somewhere else is a car you will resent by the second week of January.

And whichever one you buy, all-wheel drive is what helps you go while winter tires are what help you stop. Book a service appointment online for the winter set before the first storm rather than the week after it, which is when every bay in this city is full.

Who Should Not Buy a New Charger, and Where to Look Instead

Three buyers get the wrong answer from the badge alone, and it costs us nothing to say so plainly.

If you want a V8, neither of these two cars has one. The V8 Chargers and their two-door relatives are used-market cars now, and our used Dodge Challenger buyer's guide is the honest place to start reading.

If you need a back seat your family uses every day, confirm the body style on the exact vehicle, because the Charger name is worn by more than one body style and the badge does not settle it. And if what you need is SUV space and a third row rather than a sedan's back seat, our Dodge Durango guide covers that side of the Dodge lineup instead.

And if the lowest possible fuel bill is the point, the 11.8 L/100 km combined rating on the 2026 Charger R/T in the federal ratings tells you this is not that car.

None of that makes the Charger a bad car. It makes it a specific one, and our used inventory is a good place to start if one of those three is you.

What to Confirm on a Charger Before You Sign

Confirm which version you are actually looking at, because two Chargers with the same badge have almost nothing mechanical in common.

The VIN settles it, and running one is something we do in our own building. We are a Dodge store with our own service department on Gardiners Road, so the number goes into the manufacturer's system while you stand at the counter and comes back with the version, the factory coverage still live on that car, and any open recall.

Then work down this list before anything is signed:

  • Which version it is. Electric Daytona or gas SIXPACK first, then R/T or Scat Pack, because both of those version names are used on both powertrains and the VIN is the only proof.

  • Which tire package is on it. On the 2025 Daytona R/T the federal ratings list three tire packages with three different range figures, so the tires on that car are part of its number.

  • Whether those tires are winter tires. Three-season tires are not winter tires, and if you are not certain what you are looking at, bring it to our service department and we will measure the tread and tell you straight.

  • The charge cord and the outlet at home. Confirm the cord is with the car, then look at what is actually on your garage wall before you count on a estimated 10-hour full recharge at 240 V.

  • Factory coverage and any open recall. Bring us the VIN, or bring us the car, and our service department will check it against the manufacturer's system and book any open work, instead of leaving you to work through the public Transport Canada database on your own.

  • A proper look underneath on a used one. Book a pre-purchase inspection with our service department before money changes hands, on any used vehicle, whoever is selling it.

Trading In and Financing a Dodge Charger in Kingston (O.A.C.)

Yes to both, and they go faster together than apart.

Your trade

We appraise it in person, whatever badge is on it, and put the value in writing against its condition, kilometers, history and what the same vehicle is doing in Eastern Ontario right now.

Bring the ownership, every key you have, and the service records. If there is still a loan on it, bring your lender's details too.

With your permission we request the payout from your lender and show it beside the appraisal on one page, so nothing is hiding.

We also buy vehicles outright, so a spare car can be sold to us even if you are not buying anything today.

Financing, O.A.C.

Financing is available on new and pre-owned vehicles at Jim Thompson Chrysler through our online credit application, O.A.C.

Approval depends on your application, income, credit, the vehicle and the lender's requirements, so nobody here will promise you an outcome before seeing the file.

Pre-approval is available, O.A.C., it is not binding, and it commits you to nothing at all.

Lease options are available on new vehicles as well, O.A.C., and our finance office will walk through the difference in plain language rather than jargon.

With a large selection of new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles in stock. Our live new-vehicle inventory shows what is currently available, and our listings change daily, so the live pages are the only honest picture of what is here today.

  • We appraise your trade in person, whatever make it is and whether or not it is paid off.

  • Build and price a Charger the way you want it, then bring what you configured to our sales team.

  • Send a credit application online so the finance side is already moving before you visit, O.A.C.

  • Run the VIN in our own service department for the version, the live factory coverage and any open recall.
