Used Kia EV6 in Kingston: Which Model Year and Version Should You Buy?

A used Kia EV6 is a sound buy for a Kingston or Eastern Ontario driver who can plug in at home overnight, and the right one depends on your week.
Pick a Long Range or Wind if range comes first, a Long Range AWD or Land AWD if you want all-wheel drive for winter, and a 2025 if you want Kia's refreshed version.
Before you buy, check the wheel size, the battery warranty terms with Kia Canada for the VIN, open recalls and the charging cable, and plan a Kingston winter around less than the rated range.
Jim Thompson Chrysler is a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram dealership on Gardiners Road that also sells pre-owned vehicles, and this guide is written for the Kingston shopper looking at a used EV6.
The sections below cover the versions and model years first, then winter range, home charging and the checks to make, and finish with trading in and applying for financing, O.A.C.
Key Takeaways
A used Kia EV6 suits a Kingston driver who can charge where they park overnight. Without a place to plug in at home, owning one means planning your weeks around public charging, so settle that before you compare model years.
Decide on all-wheel drive first, then compare ratings. The Government of Canada's Fuel Consumption Ratings, read October 6, 2026, rate the 2025 Kia EV6 Wind at 513 km and the 2025 Land AWD on 19-inch wheels at 475 km, and Jim Thompson Chrysler in Kingston's advice is to settle whether you want all-wheel drive for winter before you weigh those numbers.
On a 2023 to 2025 EV6 Long Range AWD or Land AWD, wheel size changes the rating. The Government of Canada's Fuel Consumption Ratings put the 2023 Long Range AWD and the 2024 Land AWD at 454 km on 19-inch wheels and 406 km on 20-inch wheels, so note the wheel size before you compare two listings.
Kia Canada's 2021-2022 warranty manual covers the high-voltage battery's capacity, with conditions. Kia Canada's Warranty and Consumer Information Manual 2021-2022, read October 6, 2026, describes battery capacity coverage of 8 years or 150,000 km from the date of first service, whichever comes first, for capacity loss below 70% of the original battery capacity, and what applies to a particular used EV6 is confirmed with Kia Canada for the VIN.
Confirm an EV6's recall and warranty records with Kia Canada for the specific VIN. Jim Thompson Chrysler in Kingston is a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram dealership and does not hold Kia's records, so ask Kia Canada and the seller before you sign.
What Is a Kia EV6 Like to Live With in Kingston?
Living with a Kia EV6 in Kingston is mostly ordinary weeks that feel a little less ordinary, as long as the car goes back on the cable at night.
The shape is most of the appeal: low and wide with a sloping roofline, it sits closer to the ground than the tall crossovers around it in a downtown parking spot.

A weekday morning starts with the battery charged in the driveway overnight, and the drive along King Street happens with no engine note under the radio.
Saturday is a grocery run on Bath Road, a hardware errand and a drive out to see family, and none of it includes a stop for fuel.
On a cold morning in a garage with the cable connected, the day starts from a charged battery instead of a trip to the pump.
Sunday night the cable goes back in, and the week resets.
The catch is planning: a trip out of town, or a deep-cold week, means thinking ahead about where the next charge comes from.
Which Used Kia EV6 Should You Buy?
The used Kia EV6 to buy is the 2022 to 2025 version that matches your week: a Long Range or Wind for the highest federal range rating in its year, an AWD version for winter, the GT for its motor rating, and a 2025 for Kia's refresh.
The Government of Canada's Fuel Consumption Ratings list EV6 versions for the 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 model years.

Natural Resources Canada publishes the Government of Canada's Fuel Consumption Ratings, and its 2026 Fuel Consumption Guide says vehicle manufacturers generate the data using standard, controlled laboratory testing.
Match a listing to its row by model year, drivetrain and wheel size before you compare it with another one.
Once you know which row you want, check our used inventory for an EV6 that matches it.
Long Range, Wind or All-Wheel Drive?
The federal entries marked AWD are the Long Range AWD for 2022 and 2023, the Land AWD for 2024 and 2025, and the GT AWD for 2023 and 2024.
Kia Canada's March 27, 2025 announcement names the 2025 versions Light RWD, Wind RWD and Land AWD, with the Land AWD also offered with Premium, GT-Line and GT-Line Limited packages.
For a 2022 to 2024 EV6 without AWD in its name, confirm the drivetrain with the seller and with Kia Canada for the VIN.
All-wheel drive is a winter preference, and the federal ratings put each year's AWD versions below that year's Long Range or Wind.
Why Wheel Size Matters on a Long Range AWD or Land AWD
The federal ratings give the 2023 Long Range AWD and the 2024 Land AWD 454 km on 19-inch wheels and 406 km on 20-inch wheels, and the 2025 Land AWD 475 km and 435 km on the same two wheel sizes.
Check the wheel size on the car before you compare its rating with another listing; the rim diameter is printed on the tire sidewall.
The GT Is Its Own Buyer
The GT AWD appears in the federal ratings for 2023 and 2024 with a 430 kW motor rating, against 239 kW for the other AWD entries in those years.
The GT AWD's federal range ratings, 332 km for 2023 and 351 km for 2024, are the lowest of the EV6 versions listed for those years, so a GT is a car to buy for its motor and to plan charging around.
What Changed With the 2025 Refresh?
Kia Canada's March 27, 2025 announcement describes the 2025 EV6 as refreshed, with more range, advanced technology and enhanced battery capacity, along with Star Map Lighting and standard over-the-air update capability.
On the federal ratings, the 2025 Wind is rated at 513 km against 499 km for the 2024 Wind, and the 2025 Land AWD at 475 km and 435 km on 19- and 20-inch wheels against 454 km and 406 km for 2024.
For a 2022 to 2024 EV6, confirm the equipment on the car itself, because Kia's 2025 announcement describes the refreshed model.
How Far Does a Used EV6 Go, and What Changes in a Kingston Winter?
A used EV6 is rated from 332 km to 513 km by the Government of Canada's Fuel Consumption Ratings, read October 6, 2026, depending on model year and version, and in a Kingston winter you should plan for less than the rating.
Natural Resources Canada's 2026 Fuel Consumption Guide says published ratings are based on standard tests and may not accurately predict what you will get on the road, and it lists temperature and weather among the factors that will affect a vehicle's consumption.
Highway Days and the 401
The federal ratings put every listed EV6 version's highway energy use above its city figure, for example 20.8 kWh/100 km on the highway against 16.4 kWh/100 km in the city for the 2025 Wind.
Plan a charge around a same-day run to Toronto or Ottawa and back, and leave more margin in January.
A Kingston Week in Winter
Around town, plan on more nights on the cable from December to March.
If the EV6 you buy can schedule charging or warm the cabin on a timer, ask the seller to show you how before you take it home.
Ask How It Was Kept
Before you agree on a price, find out where the EV6 was parked and how it was usually charged.
A car that spent its winters outside in Eastern Ontario has a different history from one kept in a garage, and a listing photo shows neither.

How Do You Charge a Used EV6 at Home in Kingston?
On a 240-volt charging station in a driveway or garage, with a standard 110-volt outlet as the slower fallback.
Natural Resources Canada's 2026 Fuel Consumption Guide says plug-in hybrids and battery-electric vehicles can be recharged from a charging station that uses standard 240-volt power, the kind used for stoves and clothes dryers in most homes, and that most can be recharged from a 110-volt service, although charging time will be significantly longer.
The federal ratings list 6.2 to 9 hours to fully recharge an EV6 at 240 volts, depending on version, so the overnight window is a version question too.
Driveway, Condo or Street Parking
With a driveway or garage, get a licensed electrician's view of your panel before you commit to the car, so the cost of a charging station is in the budget from day one.
Condo or apartment? Get a written answer from the board or landlord on whether you can use a parking spot with power.
If you park on the street downtown, work out honestly how many weeks you would lean on public chargers before you buy.
Our used Hyundai IONIQ 5 guide covers winter range and public charging around Kingston in more depth, for anyone weighing a used electric vehicle in general.
What Should You Check on a Used Kia EV6 Before You Buy?
Five things: the battery warranty position, the battery's health, the charging cable, recalls, and the ordinary used-car checks on tires and salt.
The Battery Warranty and a Second Owner
Kia Canada's Warranty and Consumer Information Manual 2021-2022 describes an EV System Warranty on original EV system components, including the motor, the onboard charger and the high-voltage battery, found to be defective in material or workmanship under normal use and maintenance, for up to 96 months from the warranty registration date or 150,000 km, whichever occurs first.
For the high-voltage battery's capacity, Kia Canada's Warranty and Consumer Information Manual 2021-2022 describes coverage of 8 years or 150,000 km from the date of first service, whichever comes first, for capacity loss below 70% of the original battery capacity, and says a repair under it may not return the battery to an "as new" condition but will provide at least 70% of the original capacity.
On a change of owner, Kia Canada's Warranty and Consumer Information Manual 2021-2022 says the remaining warranty coverage is transferable to subsequent owners during the applicable warranty period, and that its warranties apply only to Kia vehicles manufactured to Canadian specifications, distributed by Kia Canada through its authorized dealer body, and registered and normally operated in Canada.
For any used EV6, confirm with Kia Canada for the specific VIN which terms apply and how much coverage is left, since Kia Canada's 2021-2022 manual counts its terms from the warranty registration date or the date of first service and by kilometers.
Ask the seller for the warranty manual and the service records that came with the car.
We are a Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram store and we do not hold Kia's records, so we do not offer a warranty or recall lookup on an EV6.
Battery Health and the Range Estimate
Ask whether anyone has measured the battery's health, who did it and on what date, and get a copy if they did.
If the car shows a range estimate, compare it with the federal rating for its row, knowing that temperature and recent driving move that estimate.
The Charging Cable
Ask whether the portable charging cable that came with the car is still with it, along with any adapters the seller bought.
Kia Canada's 2021-2022 warranty manual lists the trickle charge cable and the in-cable control box among the EV system components. If the cable is missing, settle who replaces it before you sign.
Recalls
Transport Canada's Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database, searched October 6, 2026, includes these EV6 campaigns, and recalls apply by VIN.
EV6 model years | What Transport Canada's summary describes | Transport Canada recall number |
|---|---|---|
2022, 2023 and 2024 | The integrated charging control unit (ICCU) could become damaged over time, so the 12 V battery will not charge and the vehicle could enter a reduced power mode | 2024700 (it replaced 2024173) |
2023 | An axle shaft may not have been manufactured properly and could break, causing a loss of power to the wheels | 2024054 |
2022 | The parking pawl could disengage for a short time just after the vehicle is parked and turned off, so the vehicle could move suddenly if the parking brake is not used | 2022247 |
Confirm open recalls and completed recall work for the specific VIN with Kia Canada, and keep any recall paperwork the seller has.
Tires, Salt and an Inspection
Check the tread depth and the date code on each tire, and ask whether a set of winter tires comes with the car.
Note the wheel size before you price a winter set.
Eastern Ontario winters mean road salt, so have the underside, brake lines and suspension looked at.
Book an inspection with our service team, and they can look the vehicle over and tell you what they find before you commit.

If the seller is a private owner, our guide to the used vehicle information package walks through the paperwork side of a private sale in Ontario.
Who Is a Used EV6 Not For?
Three buyers should check a used EV6 against their week before going further: one with nowhere to charge overnight, one who tows regularly, and one whose weeks are mostly long highway days.
If you have nowhere to charge where you park overnight, owning a used EV6 means planning your weeks around public charging.
If you tow regularly, ask Kia Canada whether the specific version is rated to tow and how much before you go further, and start with our used SUV listings if it falls short.
If your weeks are mostly long highway days with little time to stop, the federal ratings show every listed EV6 version using more energy on the highway than in the city, so plan carefully or look at something else.
A Jeep Option If You Would Rather Buy New
